Our client is a medium sized Tier 1 automotive parts supplier of stamped, welded and assembled components to OE and other parts suppliers.

The Engineering Manager is responsible for planning, directing and coordinating all activities of the engineering department  to achieve company objectives at the safest, lowest possible cost and the highest possible quality level. All duties must be performed in a safe and appropriate manner and follow all IATF 16949:2016 requirements                        

Responsibilities: (not limited to)

  • Accountable for providing leadership to the Engineering associates and managing all related activities within the department
  • Plans, directs, and co-ordinates all activities within the Engineering Department, ensuring engineering targets are achieved.
  • Provide support to Production, Tooling, and Maintenance departments in all aspects of Engineering (i.e. Technical).
  • Responsible for the development of products, tools, and processes utilizing state of the art methods and techniques
  • Follow-up on projects to ensure they are completed in a timely manner, and meet the design intent.
  • Ensure all safety features are implemented during the design process.
  • Customer liaison, ensures all customer needs are achieved
  • Familiar with the customer engineering procedures and requirements (i.e. APQP, FMEA, ECR, Design of Manufacturing).
  • Manage the Engineering department associates by defining roles and responsibilities to meet customers’ expectations, establish goals, and manage performance.
  • Assign duties and responsibilities to your team members and follow-up.
  • Communicate company polices and direction to your team.

Knowledge Base (not limited to)

  • University or College degree in Engineering / Quality
  • Demonstrated planning and system implementation ability.
  • Experience, training in Toyota TPM, Honda Lean Manufacturing System and or Six Sigma.
  • Strong tooling background (Tool and Die Qualification preferable, Die design).
  • 5 – 10 years management experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience in the automotive industry.
  • General understanding of lean principles and how it applies to our environment.
  • Excellent knowledge of modern manufacturing techniques, such as Lean Manufacturing/Continuous Improvement.
